Welcome fluffy friends!
Furry Fiesta is a few short days away and we are working hard to make this the best year yet! As our tenth year, we are pulling out all the stops. There are so many new and exciting things this year. I wanted to take a moment to share with you some of the awesome things we’ve been working on.
“I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.” – Alice
The most obvious change is the venue. This year Furry Fiesta is being held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas at Reunion. This is an amazing hotel situated in downtown Dallas and is attached to the Reunion Tower, better known as a giant tennis ball. The hotel has over 1100 rooms and 160,000 square feet of meeting space. It also has easy light rail access from both DFW and Love Field. It is the perfect place for us to be fluffy. For more information on the venue, $5 parking, travel, and frequently asked questions, please visit https://2018.furryfiesta.org/attend/hotel/
That Reunion Tower is also happy to welcome Furry Fiesta attendees. Simply show your badge for $14 admission to the Reunion Tower ($3 off). Sadly, fursuits will not be allowed during standard hours. However, they have made two very special Furry Fiesta exclusive times just for us. Thursday 9:00pm to 10:30pm and Saturday 8:30am 10am, fursuits will be allowed (with badge). Further, during these special times, the cost is further reduced to just $11! But the Reunion Tower staff have gone one step further. They realize that for many attendees, they will be too busy during the convention to experience the Reunion Tower in all its glory. As such, they will honor the $14 price through the end of February as long as you have your badge! More information can be found here:
We also are bringing in new events. This year we are happy to welcome Fuzzy Logic who will be running their Escape Room. This will be on the third floor in Shawnee Trail. If you are unfamiliar with an Escape Room, the idea is that a small group has a certain amount of time to figure out video game style puzzles. Are you a fan of clever puzzles? Cost is $20 per person ($5 of which goes to charity) and you can either visit them on site or sign up in advance here:
Furry Fiesta is also thrilled to welcome a first in Furry Convention history. Downstairs in Marsalis we have Laser Tag run by Bad Wolf Ops. Full-fledged laser tag on site for free to all attendees. Laser Tag will be available Thursday from 5pm through 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 10pm. Don’t miss your chance at furry laser tag! If you want to know more about Bad Wolf Ops, you can visit their webpage here:
Speaking of events, this year Furry Fiesta has its very own App! This app is the best way find and track events you are interested in throughout the con. It gives you quick access to the schedule and it allows you to have a local copy on your phone in case you have poor reception. It also allows you to quickly give feedback on events. Help us bring even better events to Fiesta in the future by leaving feedback. Available in both the iOS and Android app stores.
The entire schedule, plus lots of additional information and maps, can also be found here:
Events are great, but a furry convention runs on its stomach. We have a host of options available to you for food. The hotel has two full restaurants on site in addition to a 24/7 coffee shop with food available. A Furry Fiesta staple, Food Trucks will also make a return. From 11am to 3pm (or until we devour everything edible in them) there will be three food trucks parked alongside Reunion Park across the street from the hotel. Of course, there are a lot of restaurants within a half mile walk from the hotel and there are hundreds more restaurants that deliver to such a centralized location. Plus, the hotel is physically attached to a major light rail hub, giving quick, easy, and cheap access to the entire metroplex.
All of this merely scratches the surface of everything available at Furry Fiesta. Join us and help make Furry Fiesta 2018 our best year yet!
